Law Firm Website Traffic Without SEO - Legal Practice Pro

Launching a new blog or website for your law firm is a heady time. You?ve spent some money, created some content to get the ball rolling, and are looking for a return on your investment.

So what do you do? You wait for Google to pick up your site and begin indexing it. Maybe you send out a blast to Facebook or Twitter announcing the new site. If you?re active on a listserv, you tell your colleagues about it.

When you check your web analytics package at the end of the month, you see a huge spike on launch day and then a trickle of a few visitors each day afterwards.

This sucks, you think to yourself. You briefly consider a pay-per-click campaign, but aren?t in the mood to sink more cash into this project.

Why not try getting some traffic without waiting for the Google overlords to bless your law firm with a path for visitors?

Referral Partners Can Be Pure Gold

Let?s say you?re a bankruptcy lawyer and enjoy working on tax-related issues. Who?s most likely to have relationships with people who have tax problems?

Accountants, for one.

Why not reach out to your accountant and see if he or she will put a little blurb at the end of his or her emails and letters to let people know you exist? I?m not talking about a pay-for-play fee splitting situation (that?s no allowed, as we all know), or even a drive to get people to call you.

That?s a bit pushy for some people, and I get that. ?How about ?a statement such as:

Lots of people are having problems with their bills. ?If you or someone you know is interested in information about debt relief options, one place you can look is [your law firm website or blog].

Notice that I?m not recommending that you get someone to endorse you, nor am I telling you to get someone to shill for you. ?It?s a simple matter of someone else passing along your information. ?Nothing wrong with that, at least where I practice.

A link like that will get your law firm traffic from people who are likely to have problems you can solve. It won?t cost you a dime, and helps you get in front of a new audience.

(Hat tip to Search Engine Watch for planting this seed in my mind)

Remember, It Takes Creativity

These tactics won?t help you rocket up the search engines, but they will get people to visit your site. ?If the content is strong and deep, you?ll turn some of them into regular visitors. ?Others will pass along your information to other people who may need your help.

In the end, it?s all about being in the right place at the right time. ?This should help.
